One of my ways to cope with the stress is to "take 5 to save 20". Give the resident the time. Don't rush them. Taking 5 minutes will indeed save you 20 minutes later in the day. mlasorsa
A is the action; it is always what you don't do the first time....you spend more time the next time you do it. Use proper hygine. Treat the resdient with dignity and assisted at all times. Plenty to drink may make them go more often, that makes them needing to be changed more often. This will always result in good health.
R is the reaction; neglecting them in soiled incontience garments, or not getting them plenty of liquids, cause them in the long run more work for you and more harm for them. UTI's cause pain and a watchful eye all the time, incontient sores from not being change in the long run cause more attention from the caregiver, and less time enjoying a quality life with them. They are your best friends, love as though you would love your own family. Or better yet, do unto them as you would them to do unto you!
